Electrical Services Case Studies: Grand Bay Electric Rescues Rockford, MI, Homeowners When Renovations Stall
Challenge
These customers were in the middle of remodeling when they realized they were in over their heads with the home’s electrical.
Solution
Sarah wanted to renovate her home’s kitchen and make it more functional. This meant rearranging the appliances, adding outlets for the dishwasher and microwave, and updating the lighting.
She quickly realized the electrical work was more extensive than originally thought and that the current service panel couldn’t handle additional circuits. Fortunately, she called Grand Bay Electric, and our licensed professionals came out to help.
We listened to Sarah’s plans, assessed the situation, and mapped out the best solution for her needs. The first phase of the project was to install a 150-amp service upgrade and coordinate with Consumers Energy to connect it to the power supply.
Next, we wired dedicated circuits for the dishwasher and microwave, which both require a lot of electricity to operate. We also replaced the old lights and added new fixtures to make working in the kitchen easier for the family.
A third circuit was installed to power new lights in the home’s bedrooms and hallway. Plus, we wired additional switches and outlets to accompany the lighting upgrades. We finished the project by installing smoke detectors to meet code requirements.
Sarah was pleased by how quickly Grand Bay was able to step in and complete the electrical work for the renovation.
